Goods In-Out Process Manager

About The Role

As our Goods In and Goods Out Processing Manager, you’ll lead a large operational team working across four shifts.

You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement and processing of appliances through the operation, making sure we meet our health and safety, environmental, quality, volume, productivity and cost targets.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll spend time in the operation, working closely with your coordinators, supervisors and wider teams to understand what is working, identify where we can improve and turn those improvements into practical action.

You’ll also work closely with colleagues across Transport, Engineering and SHEQ to make sure the whole operation works effectively together

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• Leading the Goods In and Goods Out Processing teams across four shifts
• Setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable for safety, quality, volume, productivity and cost performance
• Coaching and developing coordinators, supervisors and operational colleagues
• Creating and delivering a continuous improvement plan for the department
• Using tools such as 5S, Kaizen and root cause analysis to improve safety, efficiency and ways of working
• Reviewing operational performance and putting clear improvement plans in place
• Making sure all activities comply with health, safety and environmental requirements
• Working with Engineering to support effective planned preventative maintenance
• Improving offload times, throughput and the overall flow of materials through the operation
• Building strong working relationships across Transport, Engineering, SHEQ and the wider Recycling business

A Few Things About You

You’ll be an experienced operational leader who is comfortable managing a large, fast-moving processing or logistics operation. You’ll know how to balance safety, people, quality, service and cost, without losing sight of any one of them.

You’ll be visible in the operation and confident working with people at every level. You’ll set clear standards, ask the right questions and follow through when something needs to change.

You’ll also bring:

• Experience leading large teams across multiple shifts
• A strong background in logistics, processing, manufacturing or a similar operational environment
• A track record of improving performance against operational KPIs
• Practical experience delivering continuous improvement and meaningful operational change
• Good knowledge of continuous improvement tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma or equivalent approaches
• Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills
• A structured approach to problem solving and root cause analysis
• Confidence challenging existing ways of working and turning ideas into action
• Ideally a Level 5 ILM qualification or equivalent and IOSH qualification
